Inspired by installation artist Do-Ho Suh and photographer Carlos Amorales (among many others), Reyes believes that a healthy amount of obsession is the key to making meaningful and successful art. “I’ve made pictures about my family, and they just think I’m crazy. Sometimes you wonder, who will care about this work besides me? But it’s all part of the process. I feel closer to my family when I’m taking their photographs. It’s another way to interact and bond.
