On the track “Home Sweet Home,” off their recently released debut album, The Truth Today, the New York based hip-hop group The Project talk about the gentrification of Harlem and Brooklyn. In another track on the same album, “Light Feet,” they brag and party over a radio friendly guitar-driven break beat. When asked about the content of their music and its range, the trio, made up of Gutta, Jah C, and Nova, make nothing of it. According to Gutta, “Just being aware of our surroundings and the changes taking place in our neighborhood inspired songs like 'Home Sweet Home.'” Jah remarks, “We have conversations, and we find that discussions lead to these type of songs. It just comes along naturally.”
