| Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? |
|
Morgan Spurlock’s last film Super Size Me was entertaining and eye-opening. His latest film, Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? Not so much. This documentary follows Spurlock on a tour of the Middle East as he searches for the most dangerous man on the planet while simultaneously embarking on fatherhood for the first time. Although, Spurlock does not find Osama (surprise, surprise) he does find some enlightenment: These people are just like you and me! Spurlock, I think you’ve got it! It is always interesting to hear what others think of Americans and it is especially interesting to hear the perspective of those in the Middle East. But, there responses brought nothing new, nothing groundbreaking. Some of them like us, some of them hate us. “It’s not the American people. It’s the American government we have a problem with,” was a running theme. There were funny moments, endearing moments and moments of borderline intensity, but they were not enough to make the entirety memorable. Spurlock is a natural narrator and is very likable, but he does not do this subject justice. He leaves us with some disjointed, undeveloped, predictable and a bit corny. by Sanela Djokovic
